I am so happy this day is here! It’s been a lot of hard work, but I’m glad to be making my longtime dream a reality.
I’d like to introduce Cascading Colors. This quilt finishes at 65″ x 78″ and uses a layer cake and solid fabric to create a stunning quilt that beautifully displays your favorite fabrics.
This quilt pattern started with an idea for making scrappy four-patch blocks and evolved from there. Once I had the block designed, I envisioned a layout resembling plaids – stripes of color moving from light to dark. I sewed all the blocks and started to lay them out on the design wall, but the stripes just weren’t speaking to me. I stepped back, took some pictures, left it for a day or two for me to think on it, and realized I just needed to move some blocks.

It’s a simple block, but with the right arrangement, the fabrics create sparkle and movement across the quilt. I ended up with the blocks sorted by color and arranged diagonally across the quilt top. The medium pinks transition to yellows and whites, then merge into the greens, tans and blacks of Farmer’s Daughter fabrics by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics. A thin inner border frames and contains the blocks and a wide outer border provides the perfect finish.
This quilt is dedicated to my mother, who has always been there for me and supported me in my crazy dreams. It’s fitting that she is a farmer’s daughter, and this quilt will live on the bed in my guest room, and she is the guest room’s most frequent occupant.

The pattern is available right now as a pdf download. You can purchase by clicking the button below. It’s on sale for $8 for a limited time.
